Steep In collaborated with Arika Brown, a yogi and a poet, but most importantly a passionate soul. She is beautiful inside and out. Together, we crated a video combining both her talents in yoga and poetry (see at the end of post). Below are some interview questions we asked her:

How long have you been writing poetry? How did you get into it?

I’ve been writing poetry or attempting to write poetry for as long as I can remember. My father would read me Whitman and Frost and other phenomenal poets when I was a little girl and I was hooked from the get go. I still have all of my journals that I’ve ever kept (the oldest one I have is from when I lived in Japan back between the ages of 6-10) a lot of them are so awful it’s embarrassing.

What inspires you the most?

Everything inspires me. People. and relationships inspire me the most though. I long to know what it feels like to be in every single persons mind.

You seem so passionate! Have you always been this way?

In short, yes I have always been a glass of passion overflowing. I don’t know where it comes from but I live my life 100% all the time. I put myself into everything that I do and I don’t back down from any situation.

Who is your favorite poet?

My favorite poet is Walt Whitman without a doubt. Always has been and always will be. Second favorite poet is Rumi.

How long have you been practicing yoga?

I have been practicing yoga for a little over 2 years now! It’s crazy how time flies. I am a self taught yogi but am constantly learning and being inspired by everyone in the yoga community.

Which pose is your favorite?

Scorpion pose is by far my favorite asana. It’s the one pose that really challenges me to stay in the present moment and that’s an ongoing struggle for me.
