It has come to my attention that Shakori Hills Grassroots Music Festival suffered more from Hurricane Matthew than I had assumed. There was no physical damage from the storm. However, low turn outs left the festival with a drastic budget shortage. The organizers have since started a Fundrazr account to try and offset the deficit.
Due to the low attendance at this fall’s Shakori, the festival has $100,000 plus in unpaid bills. If you haven’t read over my Shakori Hills Grassroots Music Festival Fall 2016 Recap, you should take a look. It will give you a little glimpse into how important Shakori hills is to the music and arts community of this area. Shakori Hills is one of the most community-oriented events in North Carolina. Shakori now needs the community it has built to give back a little, so that it can move forward.
If you have the ability to further support this festival, and want to help ensure that Shakori Hills can put on a spring festival, then head over to the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Hurricane Matthew Fund to read more about their needs and to show them some love.
