A story on the importance of crossing human borders told through the heart and the eyes of my dear friend Emma, a social worker here in Raleigh.
A local march documented by a local lady
There’s no time to be excited like the Winter time, when all the festival line ups are dropping. Festival season is right around the corner, and so far the lineups are not disappointing. Shaky Knees revealed their lineup today and we couldn’t have asked for more. LCD Soundsystem seems to be back at it this season, for one. Not to mention, we’ve got the xx, The Pixies, Cage the Elephant, The Shins, Sylvan Esso and Dr. Dog to look forward to. If you look further down the line up, you’ll see an up and coming band called Twin Peaks from Chicago, IL (pictured). I discovered these boys at Hopscotch Music Festival 2016. What a riot! Go see them if you can fit it into your Shaky Knees schedule this year. Can’t wait to see you there! Buy your tickets HERE!
I have to say, I’m pretty impressed with the headliners in this lineup and that isn’t typically the case with Coachella. Radiohead, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Bon Iver, New Order, and Future Islands are some of my favorite trending artists–New Order being more classic than trendy. Alas, as usual, the smaller artists are lacking on this lineup. Coachella seems to pay a lot of attention (and money) for their bigger name artists but doesn’t really nail it with smaller-scale musicians. However, I will give a special shout out to Jagwar Ma (pictured), who I discovered at Sound on Sound Fest this year. Anyway, tickets are on sale and with those headliners, shit, I’d say it’s worth it.
