This Friday night Steep In will be celebrating the 2 year anniversary of The Station, in Carrboro. The Station will be celebrating the only way they know how, by putting on a great show.
The Station is a building with a lot of history. It was built in 1882, as the local train depot. It has been many things through out the last century and a half, now it’s a bar and venue where the past meets the present.
Curtis Eller and his American Circus will be headlining the event. I had the pleasure of seeing Curtis, sans circus, preform at Groove in the Garden last year. I’m very eager to see his energy levels with a full band. Eller is truly as playful and volatile as 6 year old who just discovered candy. That day, it was just him and his banjo and he was jumping to and fro, kicking his feet way over his head. Curtis Eller is a man who inspires you to find your inner kid. Don’t his antics fool you, he is very talented musician.
The Wigg Report Is another band out of Durham. They have a garagy indie rock feel with a bit of a horn section thrown in. The sound hits me as a Noah and the Whale meets the Pixies kind of vibe.
The opening act this Friday will be Ctrl Alt Del. This band hales from Mebane. If you have been to any local festivals you’re sure to have seen this trio preform alongside the rest of the members of Boom Unit Brass Band. Ctrl Alt Del has their own unique sound that is said to reboot your musical understanding.
As usual we have a playlist for you to get a taste of what’s to come. We hope to see you at the Station this Friday night.
